KRWSA-A Brief Explaination

Kerala Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency projects are assisted by world bank for sustained delivery of adequate quantity of water and sanitation services in rural areas of Kerala State. The rural areas chosen for implementing the KRWSA projects are covered under 3 zones(Regional project management unit-RPMU). They are ; Idukki RPMU Malappuram RPMU Kannur RPMU

These 3 RPMU's are controlled by the Project Management Unit(PMU). PMU is situated in Trivandrum district and the whole KRWSA is headed by Mrs. Tinku Biswal IAS (Executive Director).

The projects will be implemented in GramaPanchayaths (tribal & general) and is known as Jalanidhi schemes. There will be a Project commissioner(PC) and a Juniour Project commissioner(JPC) for controlling and executing all the water supply and sanitation works done in a panchayath.

A Supporting Organization(SO) team will organize and schedule all the works done in the GP for KRWSA. An SO team includes a Team Leader(TL), Community Development Supervisor(CDS),Accountant, Juniour Engineer, Community Senior Engineer, etc.

They will form Beneficiary groups (BG) for water supply projects in a GP and will give different types of trainings for motivating and improving the life quality of people and also for running the water supply projects by themselfs after the completion of execution.
